@SG,

Truly nuts, you are right, although I tend to say " Bat shit crazy."

I no longer feel as though I'm a part of this culture.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('SeaGypsy', '
')This week we are all called to celebrate- mourn the tragic death of a 95 year old ex terrorist and ignore the estimated 68,000 murdered Afrikaners since the end of apartheid. The world has truly gone nuts.

Not necessarily. The world has its priorities, and they aren't what some might hope.

John- just to prove my point- I just Googled- 'Kim Kardashian'- 231,000.000 results- followed by 'Modern day slavery'- 23,500,000. Kim's ass is more important than millions of people held in slavery by a factor of 10+. Or is she famous for something else? :P

Newf I used to subscribed to www.emergencyemail.org. Weather, DHS, etc. I kinda use my email as workflow now so I discontinued it - I'm jealous of my inbox

A news agregator like PO.com has a viewpoint, Admin does a great job, but it's still a PO.com slant. Google News tells you what everyone else is looking at but with your own aggregator software you get to choose your own sources whether it's general like AP or a specific blogger (as long as they have a "RSS feed") it then presents you with headlines and a summary like the PO.com homepage and you click through to the story.
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('SeaGypsy', 'A') month or so ago the biggest strongest storm to make landfall killed thousands, made millions homeless and destitute. Radical Islam is becoming a serious menace in many parts of the world. Wars are being fought under a 'no prisoners- no mercy' approach. Every day there are blood curdling massacres going on, millions of people are enslaved. The world economy is effectively permanently on the brink. No News? Depends where you look. Our pathetic MSM is more focused on a few stupid people's butt shapes than anything of consequence.

This week we are all called to celebrate- mourn the tragic death of a 95 year old ex terrorist and ignore the estimated 68,000 murdered Afrikaners since the end of apartheid. The world has truly gone nuts.

SG, i hear you, but in a very real sense, this isn't news anymore. "News" is, or was, the occurance of something different that the public should be made aware of. Most of what you detailed isn't news anymore, because it DID happen yesterday, and last week, and last month, and last year. Second verse, same as the first. Granted, these things are getting worse by the day, but how long can the boy cry wolf before the public stops paying attention at all? That's where we're at right now, unfortunately. That, and the corporate media behemoths have been bestowed with the god-blessed right to decide for us what is and isn't news on a 24/7/365 basis. On the bright side, Kim Kardashian has replaced Paris Hilton. Thank god for small miracles. Or, be careful what you wish for.

There is no requirement of anyone, anywhere on the planet, by law, morality, ethics, culture or common sense to agree with what you think is important. If the point you are making, and I would agree with, is that most people care about silly, trivial or just plain stupid things, I would agree with you.

And this predilection for being interested in silly and trivial things is noticed by advertisers, who play to this, and we are then blessed with a world caring more about Kim's ass then topics that all of us might agree really ARE important.
