$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('SeaGypsy', 'H')i Tanada- for those poor folk (like me) with restricted data could you summarize?
I did a bunch of research on MS years ago and have worked with/ for a few clients who have it. Since then I have a policy of having at least some regular intake of high quality cold pressed raw oils in my diet- I also make sure my children do also.
MS is a weird diagnosis in that the prognosis is usually indeterminate until the disease has significantly progressed. Some people diagnosed in their 20's are still kicking along fine in their 50's and beyond- while others are wheelchair bound in a couple of years and losing ability to talk and swallow in just a few years.
I think this is the first I have heard of a seriously progressed MS case reversing so dramatically. There will be a lot of interest in the MS community for sure. How long before the science is established- or is this one of those '1 in a million' type mystery healings?
Dietary advice from the video is lots of fish, some red meat and fowl, and lots of both leafy green vegetables like Kale/Spinach and sulfur rich vegetables like Onions/Cabbage/Broccoli . This is really the strictest form of the Paleo or Primal aka Hunter-Gather aka Caveman diet. No milk products and absolutely no starchy vegetables(potatoes, turnips), grains or legumes(beans and peas) and processed vegetable oils are forbidden(Corn, Cotton Seed, Canola, Soybean, Rapeseed). Eggs are alright seasonally as are fruits of all sorts in season, nuts and nut oils are favored especially Walnuts and Almonds. Olive oil and tropical oils (Palm, Palm Kernal, Coconut) are recommended. That is what I remember off the top of my head, she has written a book about her system called "Minding my Mitochondria" and she mentioned two other authors whose names escape me but they wrote about Primal diet and Paleo diet systems.
I have read several recent abstracts about studying the benefits of Ketogenic diets for neurological disorders but those were in context of stopping the progression of the disease. Dr. Wahls not only stopped progression she has made great strides in recovery towards a more normal health level. As I understand it (and I am not a dietician,) the diet described by Dr. Wahls is both Ketogenic and very high in trace nutrients from the vegetables and vitamins from the fatty animal meats. Ketogenic diets have been used to treat Epilepsy since the 1920's and are currently being tested on patients with Alzheimers, ALS and MS, plus psychiatric patients with Bi-polar disorder and clinical depression. None of those studies have published results yet, but hey if its all you have to work with why not try it?
