Out in Kali everyone use to light one up while on the chair lift.

I remember lighting up inside of Bars in Aspen.

Then that mutha fooka Regan runnied everything.

I dutifully read to the third page:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')nd across demographics, families spend big when they ski: In one week, the average family of four spends 10 grand on lift tickets, accommodations, ski school, babysitters, meals, and the like.

Maybe this should go in one of the economy threads - some folks still have $.

I know multi-millionares (retired) who wouldn't spend like that.

Would these be on-duty cops on the public payroll? Seems to me this is more like private security guard work.
Facebook knows you're a dog.

A freind of mine with many years of AA blames Betty Ford for ruining addiction. Before that, if you were on the chronic or otherwise devoted to amateur pharmacology, you were living the Cheech and Chong lifestyle.

Betty Ford made drug addiction acceptable for republicans, like Reagan made divorce OK. Now you have obvious drug addicted rage-aholics like Rush and Beck who would have been cast out like lepers from the old GOP. And you had Bush43 who was an untreated unrecovered alcoholic with his absurd "cured by Jesus" story. that's why you see the conservative movement dominated by addictive personalities - compulsive neurotics who are driven to screw up anything they get close to. That's an addict - drugs is just their way of trashing everything and everybody around them. But you can also give them a radio show or elect them, and they'll soar to ever more sociopathic heights.

That's why the conservative base is now so insulated from the rest of society. It's about a family history of addiction.

"George Bush / Palin / Huckabee has the Holy Spirit." = "My mom/dad drank herself to death."

There are lots of other pictures of Bush at Olympics falling down amd with a big scrape on his arm.

I find the antics of stupid criminals funny, so I think the world needs a corresponding site for stupid police. So here it is, starting with this gem:

Indiana Upholds Right To Self Defense Against Police

Unread postby mattduke » Mon 11 Jun 2012, 23:00:02

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'P')olice officers in Indiana are upset over a new law allowing residents to use deadly force against public servants, including law enforcement officers, who unlawfully enter their homes. It was signed by Republican Governor Mitch Daniels in March.

The first of its kind in the United States, the law was adopted after the state Supreme Court went too far in one of its rulings last year, according to supporters. The case in question involved a man who assaulted an officer during a domestic violence call. The court ruled that there was “no right to reasonably resist unlawful entry by police officers.”

There is no reason why law enforcement agencies can't take a little more care when trying to find the right property to raid. If you got a tip about a drug dealer in some house, get something better to go on than the word of some strung-out informant trying to get paid so he can go to the REAL drug dealer and get his fix. There have been way too many cases of cops busting into the wrong place, recently for them to argue over this.

Military Look-Alike Policing In Anaheim

First it was military "exercises" in our cities. Now the police are dressing like military. The government continues to push towards military rule.

Since the great financial ponzi scheme is going to crash they know that they will have to pacify the jobless, restless masses. Maybe this is why US capital is moving to China. The rich and powerful know they can't fix the system so they park their money making capacity abroad.

It sounds like tin foil hat nonsense but every day it looks worse and worse.

Dressing the cops up in tactical gear doesn't make them soldiers. When the get into a real firefight, they will fold up like cardboard.

"Dressing the cops up in tactical gear doesn't make them soldiers. When the get into a real firefight, they will fold up like cardboard."

True, but once the public are used to seeing military gear and dress on police, what stops the government from substituting in actual combat troops?
Maybe it's not a matter of looking like the military, maybe it's about making the military blend in nicely. Pretty sure there are rules to prevent that from happening. But the world's governments don't seem too worried about damned pieces of paper anymore.

As a retired military officer, it disturbs me to see police dress up in obviously military tactical gear. I'm not sure why, but it just does not feel right.

 $this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '[')b]New York City refuses to defend the cop who pepper-sprayed OWS protesters:

New York City will not provide a defense attorney for Police Officer Anthony Bologna, who was caught on camera pepper-spraying Occupy Wall Street protesters and now faces a civil lawsuit.

The now-notorious cop, a 29-year veteran of the NYPD and a deputy inspector, will have to cover his own legal fees, with the help of his union, the Captains Endowment Association...

So what is the running theory here towards the militarization of police?

Is there a sort of a zeitgeist pushing toward this sort of thing or is there an actual organization pushing this agenda, and if the later, who?
