Its this weird obsession of yours to start taunting people almost as soon as you have a new log in that gives you away everytime. Your not all that smart but you feel a need to start dishing it out from the off. And here you are providing a pretty classic rationalisation for a troll, they find the people they are stalking 'fascinating'. It provides a cover story for the obsession that the individual can use to shield themselves from the uncomfortable truth that they have an obsessive compulsion. They imagine themselves a superior intellect only interested in the 'subjects' out of curiosity. $this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'w')orthy of examination. Except among those who confuse a standard 70's/80's style recession with "crash". And I figure they are just confused (normal) or really don't like to think about the 6 or 7 years they could have used to improved themselves, their lifestyle, their families, rather than stocking up on buckets of beans and bullets in the basement.


You claim to be fascinated by peak oil yet only found this place a week ago.

Here is some rope, fashion for yourself a back story. Who are you, where are you, how long have you been interested in peak oil. What are your other log ins for the other peak oil websites?

I thought everyone would be all up on the topic and stuff, and after being overrun by the political nature of the website, I began searching the archives. I am surprised that reading up on a topic is considered bad form.

So you are sticking by the story your knowledge of peak oil comes from reading one book. Yet the first day you find a peak oil web site you hit upon the same idiosyncratic cadence as someone who had stopped posting a weak earlier.

I didn't say that. Certainly my peak oil knowledge started there. The idea that there are forums around, full of people talking about things unrelated to peak oil on peak oil websites, that is certainly a new find. And the resources available around here are quite amazing, posting archives aside. The news archives are fabulous. A little biased perhaps, but the idea that USAToday was trumpeting peak oil as front page news back in 2005 certainly gives it more credibility than I expected for such a fringe idea.

Sure, for you I will make up a story.

There I was....reading Colin's book and quivering in my boots. What to do? Change careers to take advantage of the coming peak? Cower in the corner? Invent doomer porn? No. I chose to do what needed to be done. Lived close to work. Still works pretty well.
