$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Shortonsense', 'S')o. Have all of us OVERESTIMATED peak oil? Wal-Mart certainly hasn't burned to the ground, post peak. We had some wars, and then we stopped them and handed back entire countries (and their oil) to the original owners. Of course, this was written some time ago, before plateau theory came about to cover lack of a nicely defined peak
What do you mean
us Shorty? You've been a troll since day one.
As for plateau theory, there was a proponent in this very thread, way back in 2004:

Every time I read one of these discussions, I want to scream. If you're the "smart one" you've got to have enough sense to realize that things are NOT going to go all to hell in a short time. Do you see that upward curve in the Hubbert curve we're all familiar with? Is it a smooth curve? So why do people expect a neat peak followed by disaster? The downward curve is going to be just as jagged, with many peaks and valleys as market forces and the effects of some exploration and development happen. In those times, there will be good times and bad times. Plenty of time to smooth the fall.
Whatsamatter, Shorty, slow crashers not as much fun to poke at? Gotta resurrect long dead threads to get your thrills?
Not that I really mind, these old threads are kind of fun to read....
