take your ridiculous exchange off line.
Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Just think it through.
It's not hard to do.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('OilFinder2', 'H')ere ya go pisser, a discussion on a much broader set of Bakken wells can be found here. And note the newer wells are getting better.

I just discovered those are only the wells on the Canadian side of the Bakken, which is a different beast. Oh well, doesn't matter, pisser's going to be pissed off at increasing US production anyway. :lol:

To a point, yes. These two get tiresome though.

Carry on!

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'O')F2 (under cover)

"Under cover??" :lol: :lol: LOL I use a different screen name there and now I'm accused of trying to hide "under cover." :lol:

If I wanted to be "under cover" I wouldn't have told you that was me in the first place, Einstein. :lol:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Pops', '
')No.

$100 oil is not $20 oil.

How can that be made more clear?

By mentioning whether or not those are real or nominal prices.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'T')hat you lied is more important than your assumed names or professions. Man up and admit it.

If I had a dime for every time you lied, I'd be rich. You pretty much do on an hourly basis. :lol:

BTW I found this here from Brigham Exploration. Are they one of the better Bakken producers? Yes. So what? They're also one of the largest Bakken producers, so their production figures are going to have a disproportionate influence on overall Bakken production figures.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('BEXP', '0')5/06/2010
Brigham Exploration Company - Bakken EUR Update

Brigham Exploration Co. (BEXP) released additional details on its acreage in the Williston Basin, with 3 different estimated ultimate recovery scenarios on wells:

500,000 barrels oil equivalent (BOE) – Rate of return 49% - Payout after 1.9 years.

600,000 barrels oil equivalent (BOE) - Rate of return 80% - Payout after 1.4 years.

700,000 barrels oil equivalent (BOE) - Rate of return greater than 100% - Payout after 1.1 years.

Notice their low estimate is 500K boe (about 80% oil) per well. Maybe the lesser producers are more like 300K boe per well. Oh well.

And before you go defending this VangelIV dude, here are some classic idiotic statements he said there:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('VangelIV', 'A')nd most [Bakken wells] are cash flow negative. Their 'profit' only comes from EUR estimates that are usually not supported by production data.

Uhh ... DUH! EUR's have nothing to do with profits! :lol: They're just estimates of total oil production per well over time. You can't say whether or not 500K barrels will be profitable because it depends on the price received for the oil. He's pretty much just making up stuff as he goes along.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('VangelIV', 'T')he average well produces 70 bpd.

This was stupid. He took the figure from the NDIC stats page for all North Dakota wells (which includes a lot of non-Bakken legacy wells) and assumed that was the average Bakken production rate. :roll: Again, he just made up some figures. Reminds me of you! :lol:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('VangelIV', 'K')eep in mind that the first wells drilled were in the best areas.
This was really funny! Breaking news: The more recent wells have gotten better, with higher production rates per well. Yes I can prove that. Unlike most conventional oil plays where the later wells are generally worse than the initial wells, Bakken wells have gotten better over time. This of course makes sense because this is basically an engineering play, and as they get better at the engineering, the play is going to get better.

But hey, I'm not surprised you find this VangelIV guy to be smart. He argues all the same idiotic stuff you do. :roll:

"These plays have to have, must have, a crappy ROI because they have a crappy eroei"
The two are not the same, as not all energy has the same price. For example, if drilling for oil consumes electricity which is produced by burning coal, the eroei might be terrible, far less than 1.0, but still profitable because coal is cheap and oil is expensive.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'B')righam Exploration? you. are. kidding?

The fact that you belittle Brigham Exploration basically proves you know zero about the US oil industry. They're one of the US's top independents.

And now that they've recently been bought by Norway's Statoil (whom you also no doubt have never heard of) is even less reason to belittle them.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'B')ut I know why Statoil just purchased them. And you don't. Two can play at this game. :lol:

Yes I do know what Statoil purchased them: Because their Bakken holding are worth so much! Duh. They wouldn't have bought them if they thought their Bakken operations were money-losing crap.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'B')ut once again, as per MO, you cherrypick data, opinions, and quotes and distort the situation and intend of the post, which is that;

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('me', 'B')ut anyway geology 101 tells us that bakken et. al. have no natural drive. These plays have to have, must have, a crappy ROI because they have a crappy eroei . . . except for that short period of time after they are blown up. oh excuse me, fracted.

Fracting is a short-termed investor scam. Average porosity and permeability of source rock in the middle Bakken is around 5% and 0.04 millidarcies so after the oil seeped out of the broken area another area must be broken up and busted. They'd might as well be using dynamite. Fracting is mining. So here we are. . . reduced to mining oil.
And that is why the average drill site will wear out <ROI.

I do believe Moto has something to educate you about in a different thread.

"World power swing back to America" ?

Had it swung away? Did I miss something?

Last I looked we were still the biggest gorilla in the band.
