Looks to me like Basil should be back in first, next update. He's closer to the close. The further I sink from the top, the cheaper everyday gas gets for me, so I guess it's kind of "a winner in every package" :-D
After fueling up their cars, Twyman says they bowed their heads and asked God for cheaper gas. There was no immediate answer, but he says other motorists joined in and the service station owner didn't run them off.

I wouldn't mind if it hit 77, would have me perfect on my low.

You are correct, sir. basil_hayden is back in first. I'll post another scorecard at the end of the month, or if there's a new low and the standings really change, but you can post your spreadsheet for confirmation purposes if you want. pup55 needs to update and post his quarterly data soon as well. ;)
There’s a strange irony related to this subject [oil and gas extraction] that the better you do the job at exploiting this oil and gas, the sooner it is gone.

I was going to post an update but I can't seem to find the data on EIA's site now. And the other link doesn't appear to work.

Here's last week's scorecard:

 No doubt! Well, at least a small consolation is I'll be moving back up in the rankings!

TheAntiDoomer: You should know by now that updates are usually posted once a month or when there is a change at the #1 spot and after the EIA releases their data on Wednesdays. And if I feel like it. I don't respond to arrogance too well, if at all. You can un-wad your undies now.

Two months to go and a lot will change in that time.

The plus side is I moved up from 15th place where I was stuck forever to 12th. Being a Cubs fan I know how to deal with disappointment.

Here's an update of the 2011 Oil Price Challenge Leaders as of Nov-1:

211 refers to the number of days the EIA has reported data.

The average price of WTI so far this year is $94.55.

We need a materiality threshold with this data.

For example, anyone with a mere 1% or less should be stricken, erased, removed, expunged, deleted, and eradicated from the listing. Unless, of course, such persons want to embarrass themselves by highlighting the fact that THEY ARE IN LAST PLACE ...

Well, I think the players that did hold the #1 spot part of the time deserve "honorable mention". They should get some recognition. Whether they get any "love and respect" is up to the readers!

It appears that we will have a new leader this week. Sources other than the EIA are reporting WTI above $96 as of Tuesday. SeaGypsy may have the #1 spot this week, for the first time this year. Will SeaGypsy repeat last year's win? We'll see. After the EIA releases their data today, I may post a new scorecard.

If my calculations are correct, I currently own any close between about 89.5 and 94.5, pretty sweet spot to be at this point.

Hey, what do you know? I am really surprised at this current rally, what with Libya coming back online and Europe in the tank.

Did you see this?

There are no markets anymore, it's all just roulette, there is more money in gambling than making things.
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.
