$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('kiwichick', 'u')nfortunately peak energy very much does exist
which is just as well for us
imagine if the energy from our nearest star kept on increasing
Actually, as far as the sun's energy that reaches the earth -- that WILL tend, as a big trend, to increase for roughly the next 5 billion years, according to current scientific theory.
At that point our sun will be a red giant, and will have engulfed earth, and burnt it to a cinder.
...
The flip side to that is that in the short term (say the next 100 or 1 million years or so), there is PLENTY of reliable solar energy constantly pouring onto the planet, if we can just learn how to harness it efficiently, and quit (with the stupidity of bacteria) growing our population exponentially.
But no worries -- we will have destroyed ourselves LONG before the "long end" of that short term time frame, and we will richly deserve our fate.
Given the track record of the perma-doomer blogs, I wouldn't bet a fast crash doomer's money on their predictions.
