Measures like coordinating traffic lights solve peak oil!!

It brought a smile to my face, and I couldn't help but think of our resident chief cornucopian, BiGG, when I read the below referenced book review linked to from our PeakOil.com home page. Here is a quote from it:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A') world war over oil? That's something to worry about. Except he goes onto say, ``the situation is far from hopeless.'' It then turns out that lots of fairly simple measures, such as coordinating traffic lights, would go a long way to fixing the problem.

Link to the story "US Cries Wolf over India, China"

The "review" doesn't make it clear if the book actually says that a few simple measures can prevent the oil crises, but the reviewer certainly seems to endorse that perspective. The reviewer also obviously does not believe that the U.S. is facing a global financial and energy crisis.

It seems to me that both the book may be a poorly written as the review obviously is - could that be why the review is anonymous?

If you put them all on red, wouldn't that help?

You have to make the walk signs all green too.

Or better yet, put up "road closed -- foot trafic and bicycles only" signs everywhere; they don't need electricty.

Actually at WSU, about 1/3 of the streets are closed off to vehicle traffic unless it is a state vehicle, emergency vehicle, or a person with a disabled parking permit.
