Peak oil and Prophecy

Unread postby reggieUK » Tue 24 May 2005, 07:22:09

This will be my last post as I powerdown today completely and leave the grid and maybe end up at BedZed
http://www.bedzed.org.uk/

but as penultimate post, I was wondering what prophecies are linked or _could_  be linked to peak oil?

there's the Christian one in the book of revelation reference Armageddon which states that 'no man shall know the day' and if that doesn't apply to peak oil, what does?

you also have the 21st December 2012 amazing set of 'prophecies'
The Mayan calender runs for thousands of years but then on Dec 21st 2012, it stops - that's it, nothing after, but really wierdly the I Ching AND the Egyptian texts end on exactly the same day!!
It is a solar max so maybe a flare gives us all intense sunburn

Terence McKenna said that it wasn't the end of the world but maybe the end of time or our present conciousness(!)
There is some sort of planetary alignment on that date and it is a Solstice(?)
just google 2012 for a mind opener

but where peak oil would factor in on this I don't know and can't think one up!

there's a good chance of armageddon in the near future. probably nuclear war. we are more at risk of nuclear war now than for the past while, i would say anyway. 2012? maybe, who knows. i wouldnt be totally surprised anyway. then again, i can see nothing at all happening.

its sort of like peak oil - you have this niggling feeling at the back of your mind that its all a load of bollocks.

Don't forget the prophesy of St Malachi who said the second last pope would take the name Benedict. That means Papa Ratzi is the second last pope. He is an old man so the last pope could be in power on or before 2012. It won't bother me, I'll be busy living off nettle soup and other edible weeds from my garden served with barbequed worms and rounded off with a nice bottle of pear cider.

The biblical "end of the world" plays out over a 7 year period...so if the world was going to end in Dec 2012 it should begin in Dec 2005 (4th quarter).

I don't like to play into "end of the world" scenerios but if it does end up happening...you should know that it ENDS WELL!

After all the death & bloodshed & destruction...God comes back & remakes the earth & lives side by side with people.

My 2 cents.

And, I believe, the Aquarian Age actually begins 2011 - we're still
on the cusp. The Aquarian Age will be an age of enlightenment AND social chaos!

When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars

This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius
Age of Aquarius
Aquarius! Aquarius!

Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods or derisions
Golden living dreams of visions

And the mind's true liberation

Two interesting observations I have read recently:

One, a large group of Hebrew rabbis has recently announced that they believe the Messiah will return within the next seven years.

Two, a group of Islamic clerics also announce that they believe the world would end within the next seven years.

I don't know if the two prophecies were related.

Yes, but...

Jesus returns at the battle of Armageddon. Revelation says that the world will "mourn" at his return.

Imagine, living your entire life scoffing, ridiculing, calling people who believe in him "deluded morons." And then, He shows up on your doorstep.

Oops.

I don't know if it's true, but I heard somewhere the Jews were trying to rebuild the ancient temple, which its completion is the first part of Revelation.
In the long run, men hit only what they aim at. Therefore, though they should fail immediately, they had better aim at something high.-Thoreau
