The Red and Blue guys up on Capitol Hill play Punch and Judy for farce for the New York
nation busters, line their pockets, and then quit to lobby their replacement stooges.

It ain't nothing new here, it is just that they have sliced off all the pork fat from America
and now they are cutting off the muscles and hoping the bone meal and tallow man will
pony up a good offer once they get the meat all sliced off the carcass.

That hypothetical couple would never pass the resource test. Yes, there is a resource test as well as an income test. For both of them to be recieving the maximum Social Security payment they each would have had to be making 6 figure salaries when they worked.

Define "middle class". If you have no savings, live paycheck to paycheck and have huge debts you're POOR.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'Y')et another newly revealed flaw of Obamacare promises to add billions to the cost of the new health law. Due to what was presumably an oversight in the drafting of the legislation, it could potentially unload 24.7 million additional Americans onto the Medicaid program.

That’s 50 percent higher than the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) original projection of 16 million. As Medicare Actuary Richard Foster explained in testimony before the House Budget Committee, the definition of income to determine eligibility excludes Social Security benefits, allowing couples in early retirement who make even $64,000 per year to qualify for benefits that should be reserved for those in genuine need. Like so many complexities within Obamacare’s unpopular stipulations, expensive and harmful mistakes lurking in the fine print are surfacing every day.

ROFL. Who knows what else is going to be revealed about the health care bill that nobody read before signing into law!

The funny thing about this supposed outrage is..

well, some folks might get some medical care. Nobody with decent health insurance would *choose* medicaid. Anyone who applies for it obviously isn't getting healthcare from a better option.

So..

why is that so terrible? That people might actually get some healthcare? Anyhow, Obama says he's "going to fix that," guess we can't have anyone getting some benefit out of Obamacare.

Surely to God no healthy human could be so ugly. I have to believe her appearance comes from her arrogant evil hypocritical wealth-sucking soul lurking within. :-x

A shining tribute to redistributionists everywhere. Way to go Nancy. Good to see that you will be able to afford any healthcare you want, while you massively screw it up for the middle class.
Given the track record of the perma-doomer blogs, I wouldn't bet a fast crash doomer's money on their predictions.

Would it be SO unreasonable to come up with a comprehensible program, pay for it, choose what to give up in return to keep government at a reasonable size?

(It's not the idea of having health care for all that bothers many moderates -- it's the FIASCO that is Obamacare).

Let me think for about 30 seconds based on my (layman's) life experience with medicine, old relatives, etc, and I'll throw out a common sense plan:

1). Medicare works great. How about medicare for all?

2). We need to PAY FOR IT. How about ending the (now) 3 wars Obama is prosecuting, stop making the weapon systems the PENTAGON doesn't even want, and over (say) 10 years, let the rest of NATO pick up their share of the NATO defence burden? That ought to save several hundred billion dollars a year.

3). Medicare fraud is a problem. How about real ass-raping jail sentences for the large-scale perpetrators of medicare fraud instead of stupid fines? That should cut down on that real quick, and should save billions of dollars a year.

4). Crank up a new federal gasoline and diesel fuel tax, say 50 cents a gallon - (use half for medical care and half to help repair our crumbling infrastructure, if there is money left over). That would raise hundreds of billions of dollars a year. It even helps slow down Peak Oil worries.

............

There. Now we can ALL have medical care, it doesn't ruin the budget, and it doesn't take 2000+ pages of incomprehensible and stupid legal shenannigans from the likes of Nancy Pelosi to do it.

Not that it will ever happen (or anything even close). Our government and the special interests it serves is FAR too corrupt.

There are millions in Africa who are far more desperate. All of these funds should be sent to them, not fat Americans. How can anyone justify free healthcare for too-fat-to-work Americans when there are so many in need of simple basics? Frankly I find the selfishness revolting.

HaHA! That's good.

Doubleplusgood in fact.

I'm gonna go put 1984 on my Netflix list.

Republicans are busy working for their clients, big business. Little do the realize they are also trying to ultimately put their customers all out of business. Who will buy?
The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life.

What is clear to me is that the NEEDIEST people should be given tax funded giveaways first and foremost. Anything otherwise amounts to welfare for the rich. And clearly the NEEDIEST are in Africa and parts of Asia. How can anyone justify welfare for automobile-owning, nike shoe-wearing Americans is beyond me. I'm still waiting for an intellectually honest response.

The pyramid scheme is ending for the upper classes as there is no underclass left to exploit. Time for a economic crash coming soon.

FYI: Home values have dropped MORE (lower) than they did during the great depression of the 30's....

What does owning a pair of shoes or driving a 15-year-old car to get to your $10/hr job have to do with health care? And what do Africans have to do with getting our own house in order here in the US?

Red herring nonsense. And you have the audacity to moan about "intellectual honesty"? Pathetic.

Middle class households down 65% since 1970

Unread postby Sixstrings » Wed 16 Nov 2011, 22:59:11

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he number of middle-income neighborhoods in the United States has dwindled significantly over the past 40 years, as the rich-poor divide deepens across the country, a study released Wednesday showed.

In 2007, nearly a third of American families -- 31 percent -- lived in either an affluent neighborhood or a mainly low-income one, up from just 15 percent in 1970, according to the study conducted by Stanford University, and released in partnership with the Russell Sage Foundation and Brown University.

Meanwhile, 44 percent of American families lived in middle-class neighborhoods in 2007, down from 65 percent in 1970.

I'm sure its gotten much worse since the Great Recession began in 2008, right after the study you are citing ended. Shadow stats shows the US unemployment rate right now is over 22% when you include the discouraged workers----this is comparable to unemployment rates last seen during the Great Depression of the 1930s

American corporations could care less about the American middle class. They care about the hundreds of millions of new consumers in China and India. For every disappeared US consumer there will be more than two (eventually more than five) from Asia. This is globalism in action.
