I would just like to say thank you to the people who post the PO.com news stories that we all enjoy reading.

So thank you Stu, Carrie and Co! :)

You're welcome, and thanks for the kudos. :) It's definitely a team effort. It's also fascinating to watch this unfold. Things seem to be happening more rapidly these days.

Yeah, good work guys and gals. I am still hoping to find a story that hasn't already been posted :!:

Do you keep a tally of news stories? There does seem to be a steadily rising number over the past several months.

Yes, thanks news eds, here and at flyingtalkingdonkey.blogspot.com, energybulletin.net, globalpublicmedia.com, ODAC, ASPO, those on the energyresources & ROE yahoogroups, etc etc. PO is in some ways a triumph of raw information & facts over culture, popular wisdom and conformity.

There is more and more news out there, and as someone recently pointed out that theres a fair bit of repeat work happening between all the news-offering sites, with multiple folks capturing, formating and organising the same stories in different locations. Thats not entirely a bad thing at all, because having redundancy aids accessability and helps us to trust we have access to at least the original content.

But the double-work is a drag, particuarly when its volunteered time.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a single all oil & energy newswire upon which interested/alert ppl could enter all the newsworthy news they've found. News editors of participating (in sense of contributing content to & taking a feed from) sites/blogs/whatever could tick a box to include stories on their feed, as they're adding them or straight off the newswire.

There might need to be a formating editor/s, to makes sure all stories in same layout so can feed easily onto diff sites. RSS lacks enough attribution fields but couldn't we get around that by simply insisting 1st 2-4 lines of summary text is dedicated to that.

I'm sure its do-able, and that no-one needs to be in charge or make any superhuman commitment. And it would free up more than a few pretty knowledgable and public spirited people.

Don't forget Matt Savinar's

Breaking News

The way he breaks out the many articles by category is very helpful.

I don't think trying to consolidate these lists is such a great idea... each offers it's own angle... and there's SO MUCH news and opinion out there.

You can use RSS feeds to follow most sites (except Matt's I think). Bloglines is useful tool.

That being said... I wouldn't stand in the way!

The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.
