My first introduction to her was in the movie National Velvet which put her on the map opposite Mickey Rooney. The latter I would venture to say was probably one of the best and one of the least appreciated actors of the last century. They're lives continued down similar paths in love and marriage. Both Liz Taylor and Mickey were married 8 times.
The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Lore', 'M')y first introduction to her was in the movie National Velvet which put her on the map opposite Mickey Rooney.

My first introduction to Liz was in Taming of the Shrew ... At that time, I thought she was the best-cast actress of all-time alongside Richard Burton. The magic between those two has rarely been matched, and probably never exceeded.

Taylor was married eight times, but she had only seven husbands  :

Conrad "Nicky" Hilton (May 6, 1950 – January 29, 1951) (divorced)
Michael Wilding (February 21, 1952 – January 26, 1957) (divorced)
Michael Todd (February 2, 1957 – March 22, 1958) (widowed)
Eddie Fisher (May 12, 1959 – March 6, 1964) (divorced)
Richard Burton (March 15, 1964 – June 26, 1974) (divorced)
Richard Burton (October 10, 1975 – July 29, 1976) (divorced)
John Warner (December 4, 1976 – November 7, 1982) (divorced)
Larry Fortensky (October 6, 1991 – October 31, 1996) (divorced)

Having seen the sparks between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez I must protest the above statement.

One thing we can all agree on? The right to live & the right to die? Well, in this crowd at least the right to die, right?

Only one T in Bucket.

Kevorkian was a great man. He stood up for a profound personal belief, a right that we grant our cats and dogs but due to disturbed religious fanatics we make it illegal to give to our loved ones. I say "disturbed" because religious people should be happy and willing to let God take whom ever he chooses but instead they fight and kick and claw to the bitter end to postpone their glorious ascension into the arms of Jesus. :P

No one called me murderer when I euthenized my 19 year old cat who was approaching his natural death but before he suffered too much.

And what I most remember about Kevorkian: when being interviewed he said that he did not believe in God - Bach was his God.

And we put this great man in prison for 8 years. Shame on us. :x

anyway, what makes you think your cat didnt suffer while getting those shots? Why not just shoot it with a good gun-- save yourself a trip and a $50. Now at least you can be sure that it was quick.

I agree with the rest of your rant

Sounds like you buy right into the Monotheology/ Patriarchal belief system?

Good day all: I think what EOTWAWKI is trying to say is that their is a sense of schizophrenia to modern Christian thinking. On the one hand they fight to the death (no pun intended) to stay alive, but the religion teaches that heaven is a better place, and the ultimate goal of existence is to go to heaven.
I was my Mother's caregiver when she had colon cancer. She passed away in my home. Every morning for the last few weeks she would say that she hoped today was the day she would die. She weighed 68# when she died.
If it would have been legal and if there had been any way to do it for her, I would have done it. In spite of pain patches and pain pills she suffered horribly.
On the other hand investigation has shown that Kevorkian assisted with some patients for whom there was still hope of recovery. I have had both cancer and was diagnosed with lupus. The cancer is cured and the lupus is in full remission.
Although I have health problems, mostly related to stress, I am not ready to die.
Six years ago when I had cancer the thought crossed my mind that if I found myself in my moms condition I would not end up like her, and would take care of it myself, but my story had a much happier ending.
This seems to me to be a subject with a lot of gray areas.
Pheba.

Our souls do continue on.....

The ultimate goal is to not come back.

Our hearts are weighed by the feather of truth. Those with heavy hearts must come back, again.

I think you mean Steve Jobs

One day there will be so many houses, that people will be bored and will go live in tents. "Why are you living in tents ? Are there not enough homes ?" "Yes there are, but we play this Economy game". Now it's "Crisis" time !Too many houses! Yes, we are insane!

Jobs death hits home for me being a dyed in the wool mac person. I went through university well before personal computers were around. To put things in perspective I still used a slide rule as an undergrad. I thought it was a god send that I could type my PhD thesis on a terminal in a Unix based text editor and avoid egregious fees to some typist. My very first personal computer that I actually owned was an Apple IIc. I was hooked. Since then I've gone the gamut...currently use an iphone, an imac, and an ipad and an airbook. I have a side hobby business (if you could call it that) now where I move between two places and am now contemplating a mac mini! Crazed I may be but I still have that IIc boxed up and will pass it on to the next generation as a keep sake and it might actually be worth something as an antique.

Jobs did change the world as we knew it back then. An amazing intuitive mind the likes of which comes along only so often.
