mos6507's latest "fact" is Libyan jets strafing demonstrators. This does not seem to have any source. All I can find is a news story with a Cairo byline claiming that unnamed US officials confirmed witness accounts, which are not reported anywhere.

But anyone who questions his "facts" is a tinfoil-hat kool-aider.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('FairMaiden', '
')does not discredit his work on event horizon and the big bang.

It does in my book.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('FairMaiden', '
')But it really doesn't matter either way. He is still a physicist because he earned the degree and title.

Must have happened before he went clinically insane.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('FairMaiden', '
')we have to bustle about denying that tigers are out there trying to hunt us.

There's a difference between avoidance and denial. You can know the tiger is out there without needing to be conscious about it all the time. It's quite different to be in active denial that the tiger is out there. Like, when asked about it, you swear up and down that he's not there, that it's a liberal conspiracy, or whatever. An example of this might be the mindset of Israelis about terrorism. They know there's always a chance they'll get blown up when the get on a bus or something, but they do it anyway. They're not in denial. They just refuse to obsess on it to the point of ruining their lives.

It's the whole fight of flight syndrome. This is a slow-burn problem that doesn't lend itself to fast flight. So what it does is just pump your system full of stress hormones over all of the things you feel you should be doing, but you can't for whatever reason.

I think doomers sometimes feel obligated to stress over doom this way in order to not feel like they are in denial. Then maybe they realize that obsessing doesn't really accomplish anything besides making you miserable. That's what I've discovered. I don't need to "honor" my knowledge of doom by letting it consume my everyday thoughts. You have to strike a balance between having a life and measuring and planning for future threats as best you can. I don't claim to have reached that point, but I'm getting closer.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pedalling_faster', 'a') lot of times the Kool-Aid people believe is what they have been taught.

for example, in the 1990's a Jewish historian named Walter Sanning published a book named "Dissolution of Eastern European Jewry". he did a study of census records and found that there were 3.5 million Jewish people in occupied Europe at he beginning of World War 2. this raised a fairly obvious question - how did WW2 Germany get ahold of 6 million Jewish people ?
http://www.amazon.com/Dissolution-Easte ... 0939484110

the end result was that the plaque at Auschwitz was revised, also in the 1990's, from "in memory of the 4 million who died", to "in memory of the 1 1/2 million who died" (to balance the math, the implication is that the 2 million Jewish persons who perished at WW2 Germany's hands did so outside of Auschwitz, at another location - not too controversial.)

however, the official figure for the Shoah is 6 million. every year, American teachers perform a form of strange child abuse by making American school-children contemplate a catastrophe that did not occur - as taught.

one other fact in the equation is the emigration rate of Jewish people to the United States just prior to the war and at the beginning of the war. historian George Armstrong puts this number at 3000 a day - a little over 1 million a year.

so where did WW2 Germany obtain the extra Jewish people to do the evil he is accused of ?

the other factor is the numbers of Jewish people who emigrated to Israel, as outlined in the book, "The Transfer Agreement" - by Edwin Black
http://www.transferagreement.com/
http://www.amazon.com/Transfer-Agreemen ... 0786708417

long story short, sometimes Americans believe a Kool-Aid because it was part of their indoctrination.

Any logically thinking person would assume that the Shoah count would include all Jews massacred by European nationalist forces everywhere they operated, whether within the confines of non-Slavic Europe or Slavic Europe. You people nitpick these figures to whitewash Hitler and his band of corporate barbarians.

Even had he barbarically gassed just one thousand Jews in pursuit of his corporate super slave state, he is still a crook in my book.
