The only major hate speech I see is all coming from the side of Piven, she gives speeches calling for violence and revolutionary action.

For those not keeping up with the conservative microverse, Piven is some elderly academic radical leftist that absolutely nobody ever heard of that is now being elevated to the status of international puppetmaster. Remember how doing the Iraq War frenzy Fox News would swarm the house of anyone who said something skeptical about the war? Like that.

I'm not aware of any similar phenomenon on the left, where the whole movement mobilizes against some elderly dingbat. Heck, maybe somebody will shoot him, right? I'm sure he is deluged with death threats.

It's not quite as silly as the case of the retired English civil servant that the Alex Jones crowd declared was controlling the world drug trade for the Illuminauti. After millions of words were printed "connecting the dots" about how this guy ran the world, reporters finally tracked him down to his secluded retirement cottage where he putters around the garden, not even aware that he supposed to be a threat to civilization.

Yes, and there are a lot of mentally sick people out in the public since the institutions mostly don't exist any more. These mentally ill people are receiving a steady diet of paranoid theories about everything from fake moon landings, to mind control to a tyranical government putting everyone in front of death panels. I think these people are going to act out now and then and in this case he may or may not have even seen Palin's gunsight target on this congresswoman. I suspect he did not. Politically violent rhetoric centered around gun play and catering to the gun culture is used by all sides. Political campaigns are analogized to "war", etc by everyone. Democrat Joe Manchin literally shot a hole in the healthcare bill which helped him win in WV.

I just can't help to think though that if it were me that put out a poster or whatever with a gunsight target on a specific political opponent and then some crazy person killed that opponent and a bunch of other people at the same time - that I would feel really, really bad about what I did (even though I would also claim that I wasn't responsible) and I would not do it any more and be more careful about how specific individuals are mentioned in my campaign literatue in the future.

So calling Obama "Hitler" and crying that "He must be stopped" or you will all die or be enslaved is not a direct incitement to violence? And I'm not talking about some protester in a "free speech" veal pen, I mean people with radio and tv shows.

Or you could take this Rush Limbaugh bit describing Obama as an "affirmative action" candidate that is not really intelligent bu just parroting what smarter people told him in school.

When did the liberal idea evolve that violence is a bad thing? Seems to me it has resolved more issues than any other in the world. Animals do it all the time to survive.

Governments do it all the time, to each other and their own citizens.

The only REAL arguments about force are about those established powers who try to monopolize force trying to stop force from those who have little power.

By claiming that somebody is breaking the law you simultaneously demand that somebody (the government, in our case) should commit an act of violence--- i.e arrest this guy and put him in a box (or execute, depends on a text of law).

At least better than JFK. (She apparently can take head shots better!)

(Added bonus, can cut the Federal deficit by eliminating a few Secret Service positions. That might appease the Tea Partiers.)
