Michigan's economy rebounding
Report shows growth in economic activity but jobs still weak

A new analysis shows that the Michigan economy has escaped the chance of a "double dip" recession and is continuing to rebound, with economic activity in the state hitting its highest level since June 2008.
That's according to Comerica Bank's Michigan Economic Activity Index, which rose two points to 89 in September, up 25 percent from its recession low of 71 in 2009. The index measures nine areas of economic activity to give a snapshot of current economic trends, explained Dana Johnson, chief economist for Comerica.
