Simulated decomposing pandemic victims.http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/colony/Well, season 2 has started and this time around it's doom from a pandemic superbug. A FEMA-ish government agency gathers together six or so uninfected people and helicopters them to a what looks like a war zone (actually 10 acres of a Katrina ravaged industrial area in Louisiana). So anyhow, the "colonists" are left with a few supplies and have to survive until FEMA returns to relocate them again.
This should be a good show for any doomer.. just look at that pic, doesn't get more doom than that eh? But I don't know, the show just bores me. It's too much like MacGyver, where they're making all these ingenious contraptions out of odds and ends that "just happen" to be located within ten acres.
And then there's always the zombie attacks.. which is really silly. The colonists and zombies just sort of shove each other around, it's just not realistic since obviously people can't really fight each other on reality TV. Although in the first episode, the zombies did spray the colonists with pepper spray -- after which the colonists cried and cried, and used the last of their milk to wash their eyes.
So that's it really.. the whole show is MacGyver plus zombies plus Survivor. You get the usual alpha male group dynamic thing with one guy trying to assert leadership of the group.
Next episode, they're going to use rotting pigs to make gasoline.
