who are your favorite political commentators/critics???

In this depressing crazy new world, we all should laugh as things are so out of control that the best therapy is to laugh at the way times and people are. I have a few favorite comedians who mostly speak my mind and just wondering if others out there have the same or similar minds or can share some of their favorites....

my favorites are

George Carlin [RIP].....my all time favorite and mostly on top of the way we think/react
Hunter S. Thompson [RIP].....a cult hero of my generation and tops for 4 decades
Bill Maher....still alive and cutting every Friday night. speaks my mind on politics and religion
Jon Stewart.....for another slant on the daily insane events.
Lewis Black......for irreverent comical observations of our times

Ya gotta laugh [or go crazy]!!!

maybe a moderator could pin a 'humor' topic.....this peak oil business is depressing as hell and sometimes a little laugh at the insanity can open some eyes and minds.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('PrestonSturges', '&')quot;Satyr" doesn't mean what you think it means

George Carlin was one for sure

+1

Lewis Black with his "angry" delivery style is a riot -- he talks about politics the way I feel. I think he has the most brilliant commentary on economics - better than ALL the talking heads and the economists, actually. From one of his one hour standup routines, it runs about like this:

"Nobody can predict the economy, no matter what the pundits might say. The economy goes up! The economy goes down! The economy goes up! The economy goes down! "

The absolute brilliance (and truth, IMO) of this simple perspective really hit me like a brick wall a few days after I saw this. Of course, if the economic "talkers" admitted this, they'd destroy their careers and a chunk of economic activity...
Given the track record of the perma-doomer blogs, I wouldn't bet a fast crash doomer's money on their predictions.

Frogs, Tuna, Trees, Coral Reefs, y'know. All the indicator species who have no say because we don't listen. If we adhere to the current economic paradigm we are f_cked, hook, line and sinker.

At least religious looneys have a paradise they expect to go to. Mine is being destroyed NOW.
