It's on August 27, and I was wondering if anyone planned any festivities.

Do you have some kind of link on how this was started, what's celebrated, etc.? I know there's a day/week/month for everything, but I've never heard of this one.

Sorry, Whitecrab. I don't. It's not a very well-known holiday. I think we should just celebrate it however possible. What better way to get people aware of how important petroleum is to our lives than to throw a celebration? Get people started on a good note. When they learn about the wonders of petroleum, they will be better prepared for peak oil.
