Load up! I have no connection to the site, but was curious if there were PO t-shirts, and yes indeed there are.

At first I thought, "Oh cool, gotta get one!", but then I started looking over the site they point to. Looks to me to have a decidedly cornucopian slant, which I think would lead most visitors to the conclusion "Phew! That's a worrisome situation. Good thing remedial action is well underway; I don't have to worry about it or do anything. Honey! The kids need a pickup from their soccer game! Take the Hummer, I forgot to gas up the van... "

Which begs the question: Why not produce effective PO merchandise?

Something simple yet effective to break the ice and begin a conversation.

Something like:

Known Oil Reserves: 1,000 Billion Barrels
Current rate of consumption: 82 Million Barrels per day.

You do the math!

And on the back have the math all worked out for them.

I hope the mods don't mind me saying this (if so, please delete), but I will have reusable shopping bags available in about a month. They're be made out of this organically grown, American grown cotton stuff too. Andy they're going to be pretty bad-ass looking, if I may say so myself.

Kevlar vests are next,

Matt

Site admin is not interested in merchandising www.peakoil.com. This other guy is fine with it, so if you want a shirt they've got em.

No doubt, that's what business is all about, but it all makes me doubt Matt's sincerity. I suppose there is no situation that comes along where some scoundrel will not make a profit from it.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('BabyPeanut', '3')4 years?

Well my figures were total bullshit (or seat of the pants approximations) and didn't take in the actual know reserves or the consumption increase per year nor the likely percentage of total recoverable oil.

We could have less than 40 years of recoverable cheap oil. Just ask Matt.
