My two cent's worth -

We could, if we chose, solve the Peak oil induced Energy crisis - but we won't, NOT because we can't but becuase people, especially greedy Westerners, The Ultra Consumers, don't want to.

Why? Well, two things - firstly, thanks to Political Correctness, we are forced to Dumb Down EVERYTHING.

Take the Internet, supposedly the "greatest communcation medium ever" (yeah, right). It's filled, NOT with knowledge, but with TRIVIA.

Little, unconnected factoids that are irrelevant but distract NICELY.

The total net (pardon the pun) effect of the Intenet is to supply a nice way for people to NOT be informed about anything.

Secondly, research - well, thanks to the Economic Rationalists, and the Free Market Fundamentalists, we're doing less & less of it.

Heck, Oil will never get above $20 US per barrel, so say the experts. This group of experts are the same ones who insist we'll never have Peak Oil, BUT - and here is where the dumbing down hits home - anyone who says that "you can keep on doing as you are" is more likely to be listened to by those who know no history.

And modern Westerners are UTTERLY ignorant of history.

So the corrupt idiots who wanna keep us fat, dumb, happy and quiescent, well, they are gonna totter over & fall, but not until they destroy everything that has been achieved by humanity over the last 2000 years.

I, personally, now believe that while we are capable of solving this Peak Oil induced crisis - we will NOT.

Of course, once things get desperate, then everyone will realise they've been lied to and they will want solutions quickly, in which case, watch as every hair-brained scheme comes crawling out of the woodwork.

Won't do much good, except to delude those who've been fat dumb and happy for a litle while longer, until finally, when the majority of humanity flops over, and will accept ANYTHING, including slavery, just to get a MEAL - well, I'm now convinced that this is EXACTLY what the Powers That Be (Not governments, they have given away all of their power over the years) want.

The Big Corporations really do want mass starvation, mass unemployment and mass social disruption.

Then 20 / 80 can kick in nicely!

20% employment, 80% UNEMPLOYMENT. And that means that they (the Big Corporations) will run Society TOTALLY. No governments, at all.

In which case the corporations will be able to do ANYTHING they please.

Peak Oil = unbelieveable power INCREASES by those who are positioned to anticipate the change - and take advantage of it.

Sure, there will be some pain, but since WHEN do Corporations worry about THAT?
