I wanted to hear peoples opinions and thoughts on how PO.coms news submitting and editing are handled.

Is there anything we can do to improve it?

How do we compare with other PO news sites like LATOC?

Do the News Editors take all the good stories?

Should we expand our News Editing team?

What are the worst/best things about the way news is handled?

I tend to go here and to energybulletin.net -- some duplication but not too much. I appreciate that peakoil.com refers to more blogs and commentary, as well as stuff that's only slightly related to oil depletion.

Once or twice I've stopped myself from submitting something that I thought might be of interest to readers here but that didn't really fit in the categories provided.

I wish people would figure out how to put the link on the main page so the reader doesn't have to go to a second page to find it.

The reason we do that is because you then get a more accurate read count.

Personally I feel that this helps me determine what sort of stories are more popular.

The more sensational doomer-type stories always get the most reads.

The doom news are often repetive, as there is the same information that is heard before.

True.

The main reason I personally do that is becuase the more sources that we quote that are talking about a potential catastrophe (Peak Oil, Financial meltdown) the more that it creates a sense of awareness and shows that more and more people are learning about the true state of the economy and energy.

I feel this is reflected in the growing popularity of this site for example.
