$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Montequest', 'T')his forum has always been about:

Discussions about the economic ramifications of hydrocarbon depletion.

The forum name was changed to make it more clear and help discourage off-topic posts...of which there are many.

If you wish to discuss off-topic subjects in regard to economics, there is the Open Forum for that purpose.

In other words, this is not a forum for the general discussion of investing, buying stocks, etc.

It's about the about the economic ramifications of hydrocarbon depletion. If you can't tie your thread to that issue, don't post it here!

Use the Open Forum.

All offenders will be moved and sent Formal Warnings.

Nor is it a forum for soliciting investment advice about what stocks to buy.

But it is a forum for seeking advice about economics in a post-peak world.

What about discussions concerning selling oil shares, like Heineken's? I thought that was pretty germaine.

Yes, that is why it was not moved.

Just a suggestion but wouldn't it make more sense to generalise this catagory due to the intuitive tendency of the subject matter and just have a forum for Economics?

IMO pure depletion economics comes off as a passive one dimensional model of looking at things. For instance, some of us speculate the entire economic system could be aggressively manipulated well in advance of a depletion cliff...but that's not a subject for the depletion economics forum? Seems odd to me.

I have to agree with mmaster.

Postings that I believe are related to the "end-game" manipulation I tend to put into "depletion economics".

It is also seems to be a popular topic in general, why I think these postings deserve to be highlighted on the homepage.

This website is devoted to exploring the issues of hydrocarbon depletion.

There are plenty of other websites for generalized economic discussions. We have a generalized forum already called Open Forum.

Discussions related to the economic ramifications of our hydrocarbon primary fuels depleting are what this forum is for.

It is not up for debate. That is the site policy.

And they will be moved if done so, unless you can tie them to hydrocarbon depletion.
