NRDC - idiots....

What's on your mind?
General interest discussions, not necessarily related to depletion.

dont write off the NRDC yet. They focus more on wilderness conservation and toxic/heavy metal pollution and conservation in general. Beach conservation and water quality is another focus. The oil dillemma is only really known by folks like myself and the hardcore ecologists/geologists who have studied under system ecologists and those who are versed in ENTIRE systems. But the NRDC is not that bad. The Nature Conservancy is actually the best around today becuase they use the capitalist market against the pig capitalists. And being a member you have access to large tracts of PRODUCTIVE land. so when the shit hits the fan youll have backup land to hide out in. They own their land.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('PhilBiker', 'B')ut it's their [NRDC's] job to know about stuff like this! I'm just Joe Six-Pack, they are supposed to be experts!

I think you underestimate your influence, PB. People who have learned and thought about PeakOil have the potential to shape the future.

It's like computers in the 70s and 80s -- a new field opens up and those brave souls who embrace the new concepts will ride the trend. As depressing as PO is, it presents multiple opportunities for farmers, writers, political activists, business people and engineers.

The dinosours, the big institutions, will take a long time to recognize PO. Smart little mammals like you and I are the ones who have a chance now.
