I'm a Norwegian, 22 yr of age. and have traded stocks for 9 yrs in total. I have traded norwegian stocks at the Oslo Stock Exchange (OSE) for 7 yrs and american stocks at NYSE/NASDAQ in the period 2003-2004 and will continue to do so in 2006.
To get things in the right perspective, OSE have gained over 300% in the last 3 yrs. the US has only gained a fracion of that in the same priod. My opinion here is that. Norway is a heavy-duty oil exporter, and with oil over $70-a-barrel. It seems to be the one-way-ticket thru galaxy...
Back in the 70's the norwegian gov't had started a "petrol-fund" thus securing value for the future generations. In april 2006 the fund is valued 1,4 trillion NOK (about $240 billion) witch are controlled by the gov't. Trad. the gov't allows a 6 % spending of the fund annually....
