While I've been a doomer for quite some time, the speed and combination of perfect storm sort of problems has even suprised me.
Today as usual I got to work an hour early (I walk to work) and my boss also arrived somewhat early.
He said he heard a report of continual rising prices of oil ahead. He had fear for the lower wage workers at work and the distance they were having to drive and for the economy in general.
I mentioned that I had been reading into the "theory" of peak oil.
While he agreed with the general theory he had to mention Brazil's huge find and the Canadian Tar Sands that could help with that, he had little vigor in his argument.
I agreed those sources may provide some oil, they can not keep up with demand increases or declines in other areas. And Both of his extra oil source required prices be high and yet to be seen technological advances to make it worth harvesting.
I think he only brought this up to me to get some reassurance onl but he left me just as worried or more than when he approached me.
I used to hide the fact that I believed in peak oil and the problems it would cause us. Now I regretfully tell people the facts. The arguments against peak oil are getting weaker and relying on new technologies that have yet to materialize.
The Boss is planning on moving our location to a more centralized location to hopefully decrease commute times.
