MD resurfaces

Greetings "old" peak oilers, well met peak oil newbies.

I am resurfacing long enough to give a progress update.

Since rediscovering petroleum depletion in early 2005 I have:

Quit my 50 mile commute for a 1/2 mile bicycle ride.
Sold my car (I still have the old pickup truck)
Lost 50 pounds. (due to personal power down)
Stopped cutting my hair.
Gone off line(mostly)
Stored enough food and supplies to survive a 60 day transportation shutdown.

Yet to do:
finish going organic
sell house
move to a "safer" area.
buy a few horses (this was in the plan all along anyway)

Peak oil view:
Hasn't changed much. Still think a soft landing is probable, in certain regions (plan well, my friends!)
Still think the US will collapse before PO becomes truly evident.

Be well. I will check in when I can.

Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Just think it through.
It's not hard to do.

Welcome back
The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

And the fog
Became God

Why?

Yeah, why? Scissors don't use too much energy (for making) and last a good while. Even razors aren't energy intensive. If you shampoo, then you'll just use even more to keep your hair clean.

Anyway, welcome back. Too get you up to date fast, here are some late developments in case you didn't know:

1) Cantarell and Burghan are in confirmed decline. Burghan at 10+% and Cantarell at least at 14% but could be as high as a complete collapse in 3-4 years. North Sea is at 10% depletion. US at 1.7%.

2) Ghawar is still hanging in there and will actually increase (Haradh III) this year, but will decline shortly after.

3) Russia has usurped SA as the leading producer.

4) Lorenzo is still a bio-fool expert.

5) JD basically gave up after his 300th post.

6) Gore and Clinton both acknowledge PO.

7) Venezuela is suffering some major declines and has even had to purchase oil from Russia at 100+ kpd for the rest of the year so as to not renege on their contracts.

Don't you know, hair can be used as rope. He's just storing his rope on his head. Always need rope. =)

"didn't ya ever see charlie bronson, he always had rope" The Boondock saints" I probably missquoted, but it's still one of my favorite movies.
