$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Pretorian', 'S')o, the buyer comes to the store, and wants to buy a hat for 10 roubles.
He is paying with a 25 rouble bill, and the seller doesnt have the change.
He sent a boy to the next store to change it.
The boy came back with 2 ten and one five rouble bills.
The seller sold the hat and gave 15 roubles in change.
The person from the next store comes in and says that 25 roubles note was a fake, and gets his money back.

The question is, how much money did he loose?

The seller still has 10 non-fake roubles sitting in his cash machine. Seller gives the exchanger his 25 roubles back. The total lose is 15 plus the hat or look at it this way, 15(change)+10(hat)=25(total lose). Only 25 roubles were lost.

Or as Madpaddy said, "The hat and the 15 roubles in change."

Btw I took a free IQ test online and got 124, if that means anything.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('eastbay', 'H')e got his 25 Roubles back Therefore he didn't lose anything. What a stupid question. My IQ is about 80 and, although this quiz was restricted to those with an IQ over 90, even I got it right. 8)

Well those 25 roubles is still a fake note. While it might have a value for someone (of course less than 25R) I am sure it was of 0 value for Mr Tolstoy.
I commend you for being honest with your IQ, btw.

And even I agree! What they did in old russia was, if they caught anyone doing something funny with the money and cheating people, they beat the crap out of them or beat them to death, problem solved. This is why Russia was known for its pogroms BTW

Wait, that was wrong.

Takes the fake $25 and gives it to the money changer, gets $25 real. Gives 15 to the thief, sitting with $10. Gives $25 to money changer, he's out $15.

Fifteen rubles.

Thief made off with a hat (which is valued at 10 roubles) and 15 roubles, not just 15 roubles.

I still don't understand why he can't pass the fake 25 ruble note off in a dark bar somewhere. I think most people with IQ's under 90 would accept it and in Russia that's probably about 40% of the population.

I know I've accepted a few fakes over the years. I went to Mexico a few years ago and somehow ended up with a fake 100 peso note in my wallet. I went from a bar to my car with a girl once and she turned out to be a fake. I managed to pass 'her' off on someone else. 8O

Silly people, everybody wins because there is more money 'after' the exchange than there was before. It's called 'capitalism', right?

It may not make me smarter than anyone with a lower IQ but,.

It just means that should I try; I can learn faster, and comprehend, at a higher level than those with a low IQ.

Cowfucker, I think I like you, you are right! High IQ means nothing, absolutely nothing. I could not say this and believe it even 2-3 years ago, but it's the truth. My IQ's been measured in the low 160s and I can tell you, it don't mean shit.

You know who the ideal human being is? Don't gag.... it's Fabio. Guy's dumber than a post, happier than a clam, and physically nice and healthy. I read an interview with him in a motocross magazine .... because the guy has his house full of motocross bikes! He'll jump on one and go ripping up the street to punctuate a sentence, what a happy bastard!! :P :P :P

Can you hunt? Can you fish? Can you forage? Can you make a decent arrowhead? Can you get along with a group and be an asset? That's what matters. Final exam by year 2020 if not before according to most here.

Actually PMS, my IQ is about 80 and I believe I'm one of the smartest motorcycle magazine readers anywhere. :-D

I couldn't even imagine what people with IQ's over 120 read - probably some really strange stuff I wouldn't even want to get near. In fact, people with an IQ over 160 should have to wear warning labels and register with DHS.

Well!! :x

I just battled my way through a dozen or so of my Dean Koontz collection for the second time. That's what we 80 IQ'ers read. That plus PO.com, of course... lol.

The seller lost nothing that was truly his, at least, nothing that he wouldn't have eventually lost in death. The seller gained an opportunity to strengthen the scruples of his character. Ohmm...

heh heh, but no, I'm telling you that it's been one my few pleasures in life to read fine literature. That book I mentioned just blew my mind. And only us smart people get to do that. So there, you motocross cretin!! :)

According to Wikipedia, production of 25 ruble notes stopped in 1991. So my answer is that if this was a post-fall-of-the-Soviet Union question, then it IS a trick question. If it was a Soviet-era question then it is okay, and I am not smart enough to come up with the answer.

Regards,

L.
