$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('paimei01', 'H')ow do I "miss the plot" ? I see where it all starts. Was not always this way. The top of the pyramid has a gift economy, cares nothing about formal laws - and does not allow the bottom to adopt these things. It is true that if all laws and police would disappear we would be more like Somalia than the Sioux. So there is kind of nothing to do except inform people.

The social hierarchical forms we find today have their roots in the tribe. Capitalism today is the adolescent of the tribal infant in other words. Pure communty based on contemporary functions will on the other hand be......contemporary.......unique, and appropriate for the time and its imperatives.

Look around you, I see tribal organizations forming everywhere. Children - before school comes in, form incipient tribes.Gift economy. When someone gets a job because he knows someone - that is a tribal thing. And it's good. When we all get jobs because we know somebody and we all pretend to be working, it will be perfect.

How to solve the "who will work for food, because we can't all go hunting" and how to distribute the land ? I wrote a thread here:
http://peakoil.com/open/work-for-all-why-t52455.html

Based on this :
https://www.cia.gov/library/publication ... os/us.html
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'a')griculture: 1.2%
industry: 19.6%
services: 79.2% (2008 est.)

That is "workforce" not population.

One day there will be so many houses, that people will be bored and will go live in tents. "Why are you living in tents ? Are there not enough homes ?" "Yes there are, but we play this Economy game". Now it's "Crisis" time !Too many houses! Yes, we are insane!

You assume too much in your thinking. We were once cannibals.

Your idea that we "evolved" as a society from some dark and violent past is wrong. Violence was never inside a tribe. No boss , no "killing each other for food and women". No "Caveman". Violence was always towards the outside. And nobody was like Hannibal Lecter. Why did the Sioux invented the "coup stick" ? See the remaining tribes of today. And only some people were cannibals. See my blog, see all the books I linked there. We are "cavemen" and "savages". We kill using bombs dropped from airplanes. What a stupid thing to go and hit your enemy with a stick.

Stupid perhaps, but entirely consistent with our primate nature. And if you want to know what 'real' tribalism looks like, you need look no further than the typical behavior of most street gangs. Their social organization and interaction is authentically tribal in the paleolithic sense...

You sit here in the relative comfort of a thankfully relatively non-arbitrary social order and nostalgically reminisce over the arbitrary past of our tribal forefathers, bedeveilled as they were by the whim of the shaman or precocious tribal elder!

Nobody gave orders in a tribe. Not even today. Don't want to go to war ? Nobody forces you. No court martial. Because everyone values his own freedom and does not interfere in your freedom knowing that he wants nobody to interfere in his.

I was born on a farm in South Africa amidst the Zulu tribe (then Zululand, now Kwazulu). I live in rural New Zealand alongside Maori tribals. It's nothing like you evidently romanticise. Be glad that your ancient forebears abandoned their tribal customs many eons ago is all I will say on this rose tinted subject.

How did they live ? The ones you saw.
No need to copy all the customs of all the tribes on Earth.

From what I read in Wikipedia, the Zulu are no longer a tribe or a confederation of tribes since 1800 when king Shaka appeared.

"Why is it that the pirate has, and always has had, a certain lurid glamour of the heroical enveloping him round about? Is there, deep under the accumulated debris of culture, a hidden groundwork of the old-time savage? Is there even in these well-regulated times an unsubdued nature in the respectable mental household of every one of us that still kicks against the pricks of law and order? To make my meaning more clear, would not every boy, for instance—that is, every boy of any account—rather be a pirate captain than a Member of Parliament? And we ourselves—would we not rather read such a story as that of Captain Avery's capture of the East Indian treasure ship, with its beautiful princess and load of jewels (which gems he sold by the handful, history sayeth, to a Bristol merchant), than, say, one of Bishop Atterbury's sermons, or the goodly Master Robert Boyle's religious romance of "Theodora and Didymus"?
