We've outsourced our explosions to the Middle East for now.

I will not be celebrating this year. What is the point in celebrating it? Our freedoms are on the slippery slope, and the sheeple of the nation are too pussified to do anything about it. What am I supposed to do? Celebrate the freedoms which are lost, and we will never obtain again? Hell, I might as well drink up to the Roman Empire. It would be about as effective.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('k_semler', 'I') will not be celebrating this year. What is the point in celebrating it?

I agree. Jimmy Buffet wrote a song about celebrating the 4th on vacation somewhere in the Caribbean, but that was in the days of the old republic, now gone forever.

If I live long enough to see the last of the twin cold war evil empires break up, I will have a new day to celebrate, California Republic Independence Day. That would be worth coming back to celebrate, and wave the Bear Flag.

I'm gun shopping for the 4th. Two stores so far...

I feel I have to invoke the few rights I have left. And for you non-US people, the 4th is about drinking not "blowing shit up" we do that all year long. :P

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, to all you yanks.

And if you don't like what your government has done to your country maybe you can declare today the un-independence day and celebrate the coming revolution instead. Viva le revolution!! Maybe you could be the new Paul Revere.

I better shut up now, before I get charged for insiting rebellion.

Cheers.
Kind regards, Katkinkate

I got rid of my car, then rode my bike, and farted a couple of times (had to kind of stand up a bit off the seat)

So, bad American for selling the car, bad American for riding the bike, good American for contributing to greenhouse gases.

I live near an indian reservation with lots of fireworks stands, and they're always lighting off fireworks (sometimes quite close to the stands).

I was standing in the yard this evening shooting my recurve bow, listening to the explosions and thinking what are fireworks? ...but the simulated sound of war. I then thought that the US is a warring nation. I then thought that Britain is a warring nation too. Then I thought that people in general seem hell-bent on going to war.

Then I thought about the first independence day and what a celebration that must of have been, the feeling of shaking Europe off your back and starting afresh in a new land. Then I thought that everything that was won on that day has been lost. A new heavy-handed oppressiveness has once again settled across the land. The more things change the more they remain the same. Here we go again.
