I wrote a poem to go with my high school year book. It was a reflection of my childhood desires to enjoy, and have a meaningful life. I wish I could find and share it here, but it was lost a long time ago.
People get so wrapped up in their work, once they reach adulthood, that they loose sight of anything else. It really bothers me that we spend our lives working ourselves down to nothing. I do not want to look back on my life, near the end, and regret that I have not truly lived.
I had finished a samurai movie marathon, and came across this non-samurai movie by Akira Kurosawa. This is a jarring, but hopeful film and it reminded me of that I need to remember to take a step back and examine the things that are worth living for.
Here's a youtube clip. I found the whole movie on netflix.
