You don't expect them to welcome the invader with kisses and hugs, do you ? Since they machinegunned down tonnes of local meat earlier.

Someone must learnt something from Mr. Joseph Stalin. "The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of millions is a statistic." So millions Iraqi deaths are nothing compare to the death of 1 people which is aired on TV, video, BitTorrent or CNN. A true tragedy indeed for the mankind.


Seriously. If somebody invaded my country, you bet your ass I'd pop a few rounds into them. And all of you would do the same.

I think what is disgusting though is that they took no prisoners. But then, even this goes against Islamic law (that would be, the killing of prisoners, depending on which Islamic school of law you consult), so...we all really just need to get over it.

I couldn't agree more. We'll no doubt be seeing/hearing about more of the same as events unfold.

I for one wouldn't go snooping around iraq in a slow-n-low heli at the moment, thats tantamount to suicide!

Unfortunately the poor buggers that get shot aren't making the decision and the ones making the decisions to go to war are in no personal danger of getting shot.

Oh, and atrocities are very, very human. Our aggression against others of our species is one of our most ubiquitous characteristics.

Yes, you have to treat prisoners right according to Islamic Law. Unfortunately, many of these Jihadists are Islamic in name only, I liken them to the KKK of America. Christian in name only.

I would not expect a military/nuclear response. Those, in other countries with nukes, have more experience and backbone than the current chickhawk administration in the US. Certainly Russia would not launch an attack, not unless directly attacked, which isn't out of the realm of possibility.

I've been suggesting a quick escalation to nukes by the US for months now. Not because the US is strong but because it is very weak. The US military is extremely frail and resources are incredible limited. Any challenge to US forces, would force US nuclear response. They simply have no other options.
The achilles heel of the US military is the machinary. It's completely dependent on high technology, that is extremely expensive, complex and hard to replace.
There are only 10 active carriers (nuclear), if you loose one you loose 10% of your carrier fleet, and it takes 10years to replace a nuclear carrrier. That's an enormous hit.
Much of the American military infrastructure is like that. M1 tanks, are like land carriers; complex, expensive to keep in the field, hard to replace.
You blow up a couple of hundred of them and the US looses the ability to effectively project that force. It's not that hard to blow up even an M1 tank, and in Iraq most are rendered useless in a few weeks just through wear and tear.
Any sort of push-back by Iran and the US, initial perhaps through Israel, will be forced to go nuclear. Israel in particular is in a very bad spot and would have to lay waste pretty quick or disappear in a tidal wave of blood, the anger is that palpable there.

We won't nuke 'em. that would spoil the 'goods'.

It's difficult to extract oil when the land above is awash in radioactive fallout.

Even if we do, Other countries won't have to use their military to wreck us. All they have to do is dump their dollar as a reserve currency and replace it with the euro.. (which will destroy the US economy in short order).
