$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('vtsnowedin', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Pretorian', 'W')hat in your opinion the poor deserve? Please enlighten us, what a person that does not do nothing is entitled to-- a house, entertainment center, AC, meals, heating instead of wearing a sweater, what else? International travel, fancy surgeries and drugs, something else?
A double negative there but what the heck.
Pound on the shiftless and lazy all you want But what do you do for their children? And how can you give them a fair chance at life without giving their parents quite a bit more then you might think they deserve if you consider their situation without children present.
Would you deny a child food clothing and shelter because his parents were neerdowells?
A human being deserves water, food, clothing, and shelter*, at the minimum. Even if they just sit doing nothing.
My step-aunt is brain-damaged and can't do much but sit doing nothing because of almost no short-term memory and lack of coordination. Our society provides for her water, food, shelter, and basic medical care. My family helps provide better food, clothing, better medical care, and some entertainment for her.
Thank you to those who pay their taxes for helping my step-aunt, whom my family would not be able to afford to care for on our own.
*shelter means protection from the elements, which means some heating and AC depending on the climate, to prevent illness and death from hypo- or hyper-thermia.
As long as our society still pretends to be able to afford to blow people up in foreign lands, and pretends to be able to afford to pay CEOs 300x what employees make, our society is obligated to supply these things to people who can't provide them for themselves.
In my opinion.
