How would you guys feel about starting a magazine

with another message board? I started a thread in DemocraticUnderground about starting a news magazine or a weekly paper or something like that for newsstand distribution and subscriptions that would encapsulate some of the best discussions on the board for the week/month, and that might work with more than just one message board.

Kind of a truly proletarian FUBU news source that could be distributed anywhere.

For some reason, having information in print on paper is more prestigious than having it on a monitor.

Thoughts?

I can see it being very useful for publicity, like distributing it at college campuses and such. But for those of us who are really 'into' the issue/s already I don't think it's really worth the additional cost.

I agree. Production & distribution costs soar when you get into print, and that would become a huge distraction. Aside from which, who are we going to get as advertising sponsors?:-)

More useful I think, to spend a fraction of that money advertising the site.

Also the "editorial tone" here seems to reflect a pretty broad diversity of opinion. Whereas a print publication would tend to become identified with a specific editorial stance, and tend to lose audience from those who are elsewhere on the spectrum.
