My name came to me one day. It was back when Dubya was warning everyone about the boggie man infecting them with smallpox. I thought...what if there was this would-be super hero, but her only superpower was to give people this dread disease. She'd like to be a patriotic super-star...like Wonder Woman or Super Man, but nobody likes her or wants to hang with her, cause they're afraid of being infected. Then again, maybe in a fit of malice the mayor does ask her to use her super power on someone, and she has to look at whether it's right to do evil things just to be popular/patriotic. And if she does agree to do it, does the short sighted mayor end up getting infected and infect his whole family in the process? Sort of a break from the binary moralism of the typical superhero story. In the real world, things aren't so clear cut. They're grey, and messy.

I had just moved to Canada when Yahoo got up and going. Everyone up there would greet me with 'hey, hoser'. So when I signed up for a yahoo account: heyhoser@yahoo
Sounds nice, eh?

This is one of my nicknames from MCJROTC, and I felt it fitted in pretty well in a peak oil forum.

As some of you might know (or not), the Chinese put their last names first and first names last. Only that we call our last name a "surname".

Well, "lowem" is short for Low Ee Mien, my real name (surname/first name). Been using that username here and there since about 2000 when the company that I joined in the midst of the dotcom boom issued me my email account (lowem@igine.com - don't try that address now, after all they've axed me).

Right now, I'm in an American MNC, so they've switched that around American-style, and my username is now "emlow" - just like army times when "EM LOW" was printed on my name-tag. But I must say I'm still used to "lowem" though.

You might see me as "jetstorm" elsewhere, as fellow Singaporean, forummer and PO'er rostov has only rather recently found out (heh heh). Jetstorm is the airborne Vehicon general in the Transformers series, Beast Machines which aired some years ago. Back then I was setting up some machines for a cyber-warfare exercise and I named them Megatron, Droid and Thrust - and Jetstorm was the name of my PC.

In almost all situations I've been in, where survival has been critical or questioned, I've always suprised people by my resourcefulness. I was a very good prison guard which suprises many people and have always been able to handle myself.

so when I was browsing this forum for a while, I always thought that people like myself would be part of an unknown element that would survive this crap. They are who I place my faith upon... that unknown element.

I used to be a really big fan of this computer game called starcraft. The name Terran represents the human race, while there's the zerg, and protoss. This is how I came up with my name.

I've read the whole thread, and this is the result of my personal poll (just me voting) about my favourite nicknames:

-PenultimateManStanding
-Seldom_seen
-UnknownElement

Er... I sort of like those Lone-wolfish kind of men!!! LOL!!!

About my nick... guess what? It's NOT my real name! he he he! I use it because I like it, but I also use the nick Cornelia around the net because it was the name of an important Roman woman.

oh shit I went pro in that game. Almost went to Korea for a season. Fucking love that game. Right now, I'm addicted to Counter-Strike though!

Anyways, my name is just my first name with a zero instead of an O. Nothing creative :D

I think I remember Ayoob saying his nick was from an author - though it is also Arabic for the name Job, the prophet.

My nick was picked when I was a newlywed - and an incurable romantic. My good friend Judy always refers to my husband as "Carlin-Darlin'", so, since Carlin and I were newlyweds when I first picked a new nick - CarlinsDarlin it had to be.

You'll also find me on line as JrnyNut (I'm a fan of the rock group Journey) and Kathy1217 - my first name and month and day of birth.
