Reversed my premise, have you? Go back and read the first post in this thread:

3. Agents are dispatched to insert salmonella bacteria into the peanut butter supply in order to persuade consumers to diversify their diet (i.e. buy more expensive protein sources.)
The only reason to care about peanut butter sales is that they are replacing the sales of beef and other more expensive foods.
I'm asking for specific reasons as to why this argument would fail. Here are some that don't fly:
