I am a pretty long-time (learned about Peak Oil about a year ago now), intense lurker around here... Made a few posts previously. But, I have spent hours absorbing ideas, opinions, strategies, etc from the wide range of people on these forums.
So, here's how you've all influenced my life
:
1. No Airconditioning in the summer!
2. Long bike rides!
3. Totally cold showers (they seem to also go much quicker this way...
)
4. Started a square foot garden and will scale up like crazy for next Spring (I really can't wait.)
5. Starting my first year at Rensselaer Polytech. majoring in Aeronautical / Mechanical Engineering... Rather than comp sci as I'd been planning for awhile
6. Working with Habitat for Humanity here building homes for low-income families and learning the tricks of proper construction
7. Joining the "Society for Engineering a Sustainable World" at RPI
8. Countless other little things... A year later and the energy crisis is still on my mind most of the day...
I have gone through all the stages of Peak Oil Accepters, and I thought it may be time for me to finally come out of my shell and say a formal hello, and thank you.
I am not sure how much I can really contribute compared to some of the other great minds around here, but I will continue to read your opinions and referances and try to throw my own in too.
Good Luck,
Nicky H
