$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('PenultimateManStanding', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Laughs_Last', 'W')hen they recorded "Hey Jude", Ringo had left for the toilet. Somehow, they didn't notice his absense, and started without him. He came in after they'd been playing for nearly a minute, and only then started on the drums.
I always thought that Ringo was good, a minority view I guess. Solid beat, no pretentions. Led Zeppelin's Bonham was far more flamboyant, I heard him live. But Ringo was a solid craftsman.

Too much cymbals.

I do like the Beatles though. Remember listening to my Mom's
copy of revolver (on vinyl) when I was a kid.

Once I was subbing in a class of high school kids and one smart alek said to me, "You like the Beatles?" I said sure, and the kid said, "I hate them". A funny way to get over on the old guy. I said, "you probably never really heard much of what did."

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('PenultimateManStanding', '.')..The 70s sucked...

Well, the music did, generally, but other than that, if your circumstances were fortunate (as mine most certainly were), it was paradise on Earth. I could go into the details, but it would sound like I was bragging, so I'll just leave it at that...

You had it good, we got it. But it was the music we were talking about. The 70s is when I discovered Mozart and Bach.

Sorry, I just reflexively react whenever I hear anything negative about the 70s.

Anyway, there were a few points of light in the musical darkness of that lost decade such as The Eagles, ZZ Top, Carol King, and....and...

Dang, there have to be more than that, but I sure can't think of any at the moment. Help me out here, people. Name some good 70s stuff.

Ahh music of the 70's, here is one of my earliest memories of 70's music.

My father tortured me with John Denver music. After my folks split, my Dad started playing the field In the Lone Star Chapter(Houston) of the Sierra Club. On the weekends he'd bring some hippie chick home for wine and John Denver on the Pioneer Hi-Fi. John Conelley's Rose Colored Glasses was another was another surefire vinyl ladykiller in pop's arsenal. When I first heard him sing I thought he had cerbal palsey.

"I herk den haeers on a John Deer Tractor wit hue on mha mind"

Now on the flip side the 70's were kind to Dolly Parton. What a lady..
