$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Outcast_Searcher', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('rockdoc123', 'D')elorme has a couple of small handheld GPS devices that are small, connect to your iphone (essentially gives you imessage satellite connection) and allow for real-time tracking of your whereabouts. They also have emergency features that allow you to alert authorities if you are in trouble and one of them has loadable maps and allows for sending short text messages. Some place like Bass Pro probably has them. Very useful if you are contemplating being somewhere for any length of time where there is no cellular service. You have to pay the monthly satellite service fees but they seem reasonable (at least the last time I looked).
Now no guarantees the gov't isn't tracking your every move...but it's good to a have a reason for a tinfoil hat!

And I don't see a problem with competitive businesses charging a fee for such data -- for the individual being tracked, or their property, as long as THEY initiate the tracking request. They also charge for real-time traffic data, because there is a market for that. As long as the service works and the customers are happy, what's the problem with a fee?
As far as the tracking you by others,
it's a shame you can't opt out. Or that such data can't be used without a court order (for a legit criminal investigation, to look for a missing person, etc).
But yes, such tracking is commonplace. It's not just phones, rental cars, personal portable GPS systems, etc. When I search on "gps tracking of packages" or "gps tracking of shipping containers", there's a LOT of GPS tracking, for profit, going on.
OTOH, the under-30 set LIKES to be tracked and many constantly post their activities, selfies, location, etc. on social media. What could possibly go wrong?

odds are: nothing. life isn't a hollywood drama, with cliche plot lines, but the youngsters have been brainwashed into thinking it is. sad for them. noses in phones waiting to be carried off in a fantasy world, not realizing they already have.
