$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Fredrik', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('farmersbase', 'l')ooking at the peak oil clock, we stilll have 30 years to go

in the meantime technological developments will grow fast,
farmers influence will be very big, because their potential
is huge to produce biologiacal fuels. further other developments
will grow very rapid, wind- solar- hydrogen- and other energy
sources.

I think you could do yourself a favor by taking a more serious look into the concept of peak oil and the actual viability of alternatives. You can start educating yourself here, here, here,
and (for more in-depth studies) here.

Seems like every week a new one stumbles on to the board.

Newsseeker, I loved the Oil Drum article about overshoot. It must have been posted yesterday. How did you know about it? I aim to be among the 2 billion that make it through. The way I see it most of the world's population will be hit so hard and fast by peak oil that they won't make it out of their cities. Look at the evacuation from Houston. Highways turned into parking lots.

As for what we are doing for agriculture, we are helping to promote a farmer's market here in Skowhegan, Maine and helping to organize a bread conference. It will bring together farmers and bakers. We did the logo and I aim to eat my weight in bread as payment! Check it out:

Here's what we are personally doing for agriculture/permaculture:

All it takes is the simplest of technologies like a good old fashion Roman short sword or slash and burn agriculture.

These things don't have the ability to wreck the whole planet for other spieces like we are.

Has no-one pointed out that growth, itself, is unsustainable?

Economies may still exist, but growth will end.
