$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('ReserveGrowthRulz', 'A')fter having perused the forums to some extent, it would appear that some people do believe that 10 seconds after peak occurs, civilization zips straight down the rabbit hole.

Indeed. Peakers as we all now know were always quite ignorant about the history of the topic, for example, you'll notice they NEVER noticed that 1979 was a global peak oil that last about 15 years.

And yet....the world didn't end.

Maybe peakers just don't like history?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('ReserveGrowthRulz', 'I')f PO occurred in late-2004, then why haven't most people noticed it yet?

Indeed! Quite perceptive. When faced with raging ignorance though, it is unlikely you will receive any logical response. Back in the day when you knew this obvious question to ask, the true zealots still can't be bothered to venture an answer. Around here nowadays they have been labeled parrots, unable to learn or think, repeating decades old peak oil religious tripe, etc etc.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Reservegrowthrulz', '
')That means we're heading into the 5th quarter of terminal oil decline, yet the only thing which has happened is the commodity price spiked a bit...I thought the tractors would stop running, no food, the price sure wouldn't DROP like it has since August....

So you have noticed the claims of instant doom have you? McPeaksters like it, gives them a quick reason to buy gun, hunting and fishing cabins, claiming it is "getting back to nature" when they try to explain to the family why it is necessary. One of the mods here actually went and did it for awhile, farm in Missouri and everything. Of course, that got old after awhile, and obviosly the world didn't end, so I think he moved on to more normal societally acceptable type stuff, regular life, etc etc.

Farming is a tough gig, having lived it as a youngster. Too bad he wasted years if not a decade by not listening to folks like you. "INSTA-DOOM!!" was always a fools gig. Peakers being a subset of fools of course.
