$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('BlueGhostNo2', 'n')ewbonic I don't like it either as a Strong Agnostic but he is essentially correct. Pol Pot and PRC both professed atheist nations, both wiped out vast swathes of their own population.
You missed out Stalin's Russia/Soviet Union - that was a bloodbath to.
However, they were not psycopathically murderous in the name of a lack of belief in any particular god (allah/thor/jehova/ra, etc.), unless you count Stalin, Pol Pot and Mao as surrogate prophets. But rather they were run by power hungry sociopaths who destroyed
any competing political force (which organised religion most definitely is).
Equally there are many examples of religiously justified bloodbaths, e.g. the conquistadors in south america, the british empire in africa (google white mans burden), the US as it conquered north america, muslim conquests, etc.
My point being that it is probably human nature to engage in barbaric behavior under some conditions, but as an atheist myself I resent the attempt by the poster to potray non religious folk as slavering monsters who'd go on a killing spree if we ever got into government!!!! (atheist run nations etc.).
