I have to complain about anti PO people like David Yergin, Peter Huber...etc.

These people are smart people and when questioners push them, they will admit that oil and gas are finite resources. Yet, we see again and again in the news media quoting them saying we will not run out of oil and gas and that there are lots of it.

I don't know if news media are misquoting or what, but the fact is that many of the people that I have seen arguing against PO do believe we will run out of oil, but most believe it is many decades from now. The media should group these people together with PO people. PO technically is just that oil will reach a maximum production. If people believe we will run out of oil in a year or 100 years or 200 years, they still believe we will run out of oil.

I get so angry when I see people who are arguing for infinite oil quoting people who believe we will run out of oil in 100 years and by that time, oil will no longer be important and alternatives will be more efficient in economic terms. These two groups should not be bunch together. Infinite oil people are morons and idiots. The others are simply too trustworthy of technology.

I can only think about 3 reasons that a person wouldn't worry about peak oil and problems it will cause.

1. They think that oil is an infinite resource and we can pump it out of the ground at any rate we want to forever and ever.

2. They think that once oil peaks the market will provide us with an alternative and life as we know it will continue.

3. Oil peaking will be so far in the future they will be dead by the time it happens anyway.

In the latter two they believe in peak oil but that it won't cause a problem for them. The first one you would definitely have to be an idiot to believe. If you believe oil is a finite resource then you pretty much have to believe in peak oil.
