I think the US government has been cooking the inflation numbers for quite some time. Social Security snd other government contracts have automatic increases based on the rate of inflation. So it is in the best interest of the PTB to keep the inflation number as low as possible.

Shit, that's a lot of disheartening stories.

It's funny, if you're a member of this site and have done any reading at all, you know this kind of thing is coming, but it's still weird to read it in the news.

Guess what business is actually doing well, though? Bicycles :)

Doesn't Pacific own Schwinn? Aren't Schwinns now sold in -ugh- Wal-Mart? There's at least part of the reason for the % increase. I would be surprised if they're profitable, considering how WM haggles their suppliers down to at or just above cost.

I have been posting about this all over!

The problem is the dairymen around here are getting 30% less for milk than a year ago.

The middleman can raise his prices to reflect rising costs but the farmer can’t, supply/demand/commodity traders control his income.


Doesn’t anyone see a problem here?

Price strutures will likely change for many of these corporations as they plan their next FY budgets. Also capital expenditures will suffer in the face of declining profit.
Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Just think it through.
It's not hard to do.

Hey don't knock photosynthsis--remember how Zonker used to use it all the time?

Energy prices are going up and therefor the most energy intensive food will become more expensive faster than the less energy intensive foods. Have you priced fresh fish lately?
