Great read. This reflects a lot of my feelings about the great mess we find ourselves in, too. Especially when I think about my 2 small children living even longer into this great, terrible transition ahead of us.

I get impatient with the national fixation on who the next president is going to be while we all blithely continue our destructive lifestyles. I agree that seeking improvements as close to your locality as possible is the best way to mitigate the impending upheaval for yourself, and prepare for whatever the future is going to bring.

For example, here in Portland, there is a growing push for truly world-class facilities for bicycles - whole streets given priority for bikes, better street striping, sinage, off-street paths - the works. Isn't it much better for me to invest my energy in that than make a few phone calls for a presidential candidate? What is going to help me and mine more post Peak? What will have a more profound effect on my locality and mental health? What will feel futile and what will feel relevant?

The continued pursuit of consumption, or capitalism...now consider that. Our problems are simple..we have become obesely greedy. Our owners of capital have nurtured and fed this greed and continue to do so in the pursuit of profit. Will we be any better Post Peak. Lol...no...not unless we make a conscious choice to jettison the culture of acquisition and the sub-culture of consumption it has bred.

Possible, or likely, plight of our children and grandchildren concerns me.

At about 17:00 on cnn I think I heard W threatening WWIII if Iran continues to pursue nuclear work.

Our Persian friends may have figured out that the US probably intends to try to starve them out in the cold and dark.

Without Internet our legal project would be nowhere.
