Book: "A Planet for the President" by Alistair Beaton

A good source of amusement for the dieoff fraternity: Sources such as "The Party's Over" and the Olduvai theory suggest a sustainable population level of 2 billion. Coincidentally, the "Ecological Footprint" principle also stipulates a similar amount (3 Earths needed for the current population).

Beaton, a satirist, has learnt about the footprint principle, and come up with a story where a government decides to "manage" the problem of overpopulation.

The most interesting aspect of this book is that a satirist, who usually writes the likes of "The Little Book of Complete Bollocks", has thought along the same lines as the dieoff fraternity.
