Bob Dylan Shows Class

Unread postby PenultimateManStanding » Sat 15 Aug 2009, 18:01:07

Hi folks, I'm back. I said I'd be here at the end. It's not the end yet but I got 20 thousand so I'm back on the internet scene. So Dylan got picked up for looking scruffy and old. Didn't have ID. A young sweetie cop brought him in. He was cooperative and nice. The older cops made fun of her and offered to lend her some vinyl records. She said she had seen his picture from years ago and the scruffy old Dylan didn't fit the bill. She had no idea what to do with a vinyl record.

PMS, was gibt?

"Ennnnneeeaaauuuuhhhhh!" Or however you spell that weird nasal noise you make when doing a Dylan impersonation. Bet he'll stay clear of the Garden State now?

The over-diligent folks at E! News point out that one line the Bobster penned for the Traveling Wilburys was "In Jersey everything's legal, as long as you don't get caught." Wonder if they ever used that song in a Sopranos episode?

That said, this has happened to me before.

One time, I was hiking and caught in a bad downpour, but I was still just a few miles out of my neighborhood and figured I could ask at a house to use their phone, then call a friend (back in the days before cellphones). I was dressed neatly, the only think was I looked wet. They told me to wait and they called the police, "Because a stranger was at their door!" I didn't have any license on me, so police took me away and brought me home only when they were sure I was from the area. No charges, I wasn't doing anything wrong.Though coming home in a squad car didn't go over real well. And I wonder if I wasn't from the area, who knows how much trouble they would have made for me.

Another time, a long while back when I was a kid, I was trick or treating with my Dad, no joke. A neighbor called "There's a kid in a homemade costume and the older man might be casing houses." Oh and the police took it seriously, brought a long two squad cars and some kind of paddy wagon. Flashlights in our eyes, "Take off the mask! what's in the bag! Show me your ID!" Maybe the police were just trying to scare trick or treaters for the hell of it, see if they could make some kid piss themselves, I don't know. Or maybe that's just how police always are. Maybe that's what they think their job is. Anyway I'm not surprised they took Dylan for a ride. That's what they do.

Thanks. Regarding Dylan, it's a little bit of a stretch to think he was looking to buy that house. A scruffy looking hooded old dude walking in the rain with no ID. Hmmm.... The neighbors phone it in, of course the cops gotta check it out. Bob's probably tired of girls like birds, flying away. A little adventure with a pretty young cop. He knows better than Mel "sugar tits" Gibson.

Welcome back PMS!
How's that 2009 die-off treating you so far?
I don't see why Bob was so relaxed about being asked to show ID. He should have caused a big stink about being profiled. Then he might have got a beer at the white house.

During an interview of Bob Dylan about 1964 he was asked:

"How many young folk musicians do you think you have influenced?"

Bob at first seemed annoyed at such a stupid question but then he grinned and said emphatically:

"42! And if it's not 42 then it's 143!", still with that wiseassed grin of his.

Hi Wildrose. Remember Gidget? The Flying Nun? Talk about a bygone era. The world's been nice to me. Took the family out to the back country in Dulzura to the Barrett Junction Cafe for deep fried cod and hush puppies yesterday. That cafe has been there since WWII. World famous cafe.

Mmmm, sounds good, and that cafe must be a cool place. I've been trying out a number of vegetarian and vegan restaurants lately - dates with my daughter. She knows where all the best places are! I lived through the worst thunderstorm this summer with baseball sized hail; it was scary, believe me! Got lots of hail damage to my van, but there's not much I can do about it.

Glad to hear you and the family are well. And I do remember The Flying Nun, watched it quite a bit. Gidget was on a couple of years before my
family returned to Canada from overseas.

I've got a vegetarian daughter, too. Not a vegan, though. I've been broke for months. Peeled off my auto tags to the 2004 sticker which was the same color as the 2008-2009 sticker. But now I got my pension refund cash and we're celebrating. Next Sunday we go to a vegetarian place for V's graduation present. I'm ordering the veggy Ruben sandwich. That should be interesting. Veggy pastrami? hmmm....

btw, got my auto insurance, car registration and expired driver's license all taken care of. That's a load off my mind for sure!

Had to laugh about the auto stickers thing - I remember years ago, when my kids were really little and money was tight. We took the kids to the local EX (summer fair), where you needed a green stamp on your hand to get on all the amusement rides. We couldn't afford 5 stamps (at about $25 each), so hubby and I each had our hands stamped and then ran around behind the booth and quickly pressed our hands to the kiddies' hands so we all had stamps. Voila! We were all riding all day.

The veggie restaurants can do some amazing things. I've eaten a veggie clubhouse, tofu meatloaf, veggie chicken nuggets, pork and fish! The last three were accurate in flavor but the texture was not the same. Teriyaki tofu salad is good. If the restaurant offers a vegan chocolate zucchini cake (or similar), you might want to go for it - really tasty.
