The program was created in 1935 as a response to the Great Depression and is funded by federal and state taxes.
Some people would call that "socialist" as it takes tax money, puts it in a pool, and then distributes it to people in need.

What will you live on with no job and no unemployment benefits? 
Last I heard, unemployment benefits still exist.
Shocking to see a free market freddy such as yourself on the dole.
