The words will fall mostly fall on deaf ears, sadly. Though watching the comical farce of men hopping on a camel to get it into a needle is a guilty pleasure of mine especially when one of them suggest buttering the camel.
Was a long and dark December
When the banks became cathedrals
And the fog
Became God

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('ElijahJones', 'S')ome would say, “Surely you are mad. Surely God has blessed and continues to bless America.”

Interesting you should mention that.. our priest gave a homily a couple weeks ago or so that asked a similar question, do we have this extreme luxury as a result of God's benevolence, or as a result of God's contempt.

Setting all things aside, do any of us truly comprehend the material wealth that is 7 million barrels of crude oil production per day? And how, in America, do we make use of that incredible wealth? Are we carefully measuring it out, to bring to fruition its full value and power to benefit mankind, or are we burning the stuff for our pleasure as fast as we absolutely can manage?

Now, I admit, the priest didn't relate it directly to oil; but more to our general affluence and use of generic resources; but its applicability was impressive.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('ElijahJones', 'W')ell, I give you a link to my identity. I'll be known for who and what I am thank you. Here is a link to a study I did from the book of Amos, drawing parallels to the America we know today.

Amos: Prophet to America?

Enjoy,

EJ

Yeah, man. I just read about James Dobson's sycophantic do-looping money machine in Time Magazine and it made me think of Amos. Watch out you fat cows of Bashan.

I know there are always those that have kept themselves. In America that number could even be quite large. It can't be large enough, however, to stave off the hand of God in judgement. You know, you reap what you sow. We have sown no alternatives. We have not sown them out of a sick kind of selfish deliberation. I think America is choking on all of the tax money that it hasn't collected and didn't spend. I don't know whether it will coke to death or simply pass out and wake up in a world it hasn't prepared for.
