ADD and Weight Loss

Unread postby harlanater » Wed 02 Nov 2005, 00:22:56

It seems to me that the government decided the best way to beat obesity is with the use of adderall and ritalin. First they advertise add with depictions that fit the majority of the population. Second they give doctors a bonus for providing stimulant medications rather than straterra. Finally you got a generation using speed. Not only is it raise productivety, it also lowers calories consumed and hours slept. Generation xr is now.

No, if he created a stone that massive it would be the gravitation center of the universe and therefor there would be nowhere to lift it too.

However I think the queston remains could god microwave a burrito so hot that not even he could eat it.

That one keeps me up a night.

Wouldn't longterm use of a stimulant like speed eventually cause people to collapse from lack of sleep.
Kind regards, Katkinkate

Ritalin and Adderall are both amphetamines, but using them in medicinal quantities is nothing like being a crackhead or anything. It's not like you're wired 24/7.

Actually, if a person is really ADD or ADHD, the stimulant puts them over the edge, so to speak, so they can function. Taking more will cause sleepiness.

ADD is a made up disease prepetuated by the propaganda of big Pharma. Also children's lives are too over schedualed with no time for kids to just be kids. Let children know there is a time to play and a time to work and learning. You can't expect children to just work and sleep like their workaholic parents.

still, being on dextroamphetamine during most of your waking hours can't be good for your heart.

my view of amphetamines is that they're okay to use on an occasional basis, but using them daily isn't too healthy. maybe someone in the medical field could tell us their thoughts on this subject.

I agree totally kids need to be kids. And some of the problem may just be a manifestation of classroom tedium and over-regimentation. But I do think ADD in some cases is real, whatever you might call it. I'd prefer to use the old fashioned word hyperactivity myself instead of an official medical label. But if society somehow were to eliminate TV and junk refined food, and vaccines for that matter that may contribute to brain dysfunction in some kids, for the most part this problem would go away (as would obesity).
